Jane Muncke

Jane Muncke works on preventing chronic diseases that are caused by harmful chemical exposures. Since 2012 she has been Managing Director and Chief Scientific Officer of Food Packaging Forum Foundation, a science communication organization dedicated to raising awareness for hazardous chemicals in all types of food contact materials and articles. Her has an academic background in environmental science and she holds a PhD in environmental toxicology, and an MSc in environmental chemistry, both from ETH Zurich, Switzerland, and a certificate in business and leadership from Cranfield University. She has worked in science communication and research since 2000, starting at Eawag (Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology) in an interdisciplinary project on urban waste water management, aiming at reducing chemical pollutants in the aquatic environment. After postdoctoral work on endocrine disruption in zebrafish at Eawag, she worked for 5 years at the mechanical engineering company Bucher Emhart Glass, prior to founding the Food Packaging Forum. She is South African, German and Swiss.
