Urban Boije

Urban Boije af Gennäs is since 2014 seconded national expert at the Unit for Sustainable Chemicals at the Directorate-General for the Environment of the European Commissions. His main task is the development of the strategy for a non-toxic environment based on the 7th Environmental Action Program of the EU.

Chemicals policy has been his main line of work since 2002. He holds a post as Principal Adviser at the Swedish Chemicals Agency (KemI), where he has been involved in the development in the Swedish chemicals strategy and objectives among other overall policy issues.

He was born in 1964 and studied biology and journalism at the universities of Lund, Uppsala and Stockholm. Since 1992 he has been involved in a range of environmental and health policy issues in public society and governmental organizations, including Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Health, Swedish EPA and Swedish Chemicals Agency.
